My Top 10 Moments Of 2014 | Samantha Jo xo

It is the last day of 2014 which can only mean that this is my last day of countdowns. I've decided to make this a more personal list, deeming it my top 10 moments of this year. I feel this will make for great reflection on my life for myself and hopefully inspire some of you to do some reflecting yourself. Here we go!

10. Midday Madness Coordinator

This past semester I was promoted at my college radio station, MyWCWP, to Midday Madness Coordinator. Midday Madness is our lunch time radio show. At my school we have something called a common hour where basically everyone has off at that time to eat lunch, have club meetings, study, etc. During this time the radio station puts on Midday Madness playing top 40 music or any requests from the students. Some days we even have live DJ's its great. Basically my job is to hire talent, schedule interviews with other organizations on campus that want to get the word out over radio, gather news for a news segment, etc you get the point. Basically I'm producer of the show and thats such an honor for me. I'm a mere sophomore at school and I already have such a high position. This was a real highlight.

9. I Quit My Job

For some this may not seem like a great moment and for about 2 months after I did this, I felt some financial pain. I was working at a frozen yogurt shop for over a year and towards the end, I really just felt I had to get out of there. This semester I thought would be a great time to do so except when I did I was spending $80 in gas every week commuting to school. I did not have the budget for it, but I had gone through something. I noticed I was happier broke, than working. When you're at a dead end job like that, it makes it really hard to work there. The people were awful, the managers didn't give a hoot and the customers made me want to rip my hair out (and I really love my hair). When I left, I had the biggest sigh of relief. When you're surrounded by that for so long, it takes a toll on your happiness. I want to wake up every morning and be happy to go to work. Thats why I go to school. I now work at a trampoline sports center and could not be happier as a party host. Until of course I get my big break in radio.

8. I Cleared Up My Skin

For about a year and a half, my face had been the worst it's ever been. It was to a point where it was so out of control, I felt I couldn't even save it anymore. Then I became insecure noticing how everyone else's skin was flawless and I was the only girl in college with horrible acne (not true thats just how I felt). Over the summer I saw the best dermatologist I've been to. She (well the medicine she prescribed) cleared up my acne by the time the next semester started and I've never felt more prettier (complexion wise). I still have some scarring and what not, so yeah I'm still wearing lots of makeup and I'm not where I want to be, but I came a long way and I couldn't feel greater about that this year.

7. I Cut Out The Baggage

Old friends, or as I like to call them baggage. I cut them all out minus a few. See there were a few people in high school I was friends with, who at the time (I didn't notice) were completely toxic. Of course, I knew who the bad friends were I wasn't dumb ever, regardless of what they might think, but I kept them around. Cutting them out of my life couldn't have been a better decision. There were just a select bunch that were just horrible to me, they weren't friends, they were trying to cause drama and raise hell every second they could and tried involving me. I don't need those people in my life anymore and they never needed me. I'm in such a good place in my life that they are just so.. irrelevant. They don't fit in my life and I don't even care to lose them. Surprisingly, I'm talking about all my guy friends from high school which is nice to hear for once. The girls have stayed very good to me which, I'm happy about.

6. Total Access Coordinator

Total Access at MyWCWP is the 2 hour Top 40 show that you can hear me live on every week. I was also promoted to coordinator of Total Access as well and for some reason I feel more attached to this show. It's just me on the show and when I graduate this is what I want to be doing in the real world, so I'm enjoying the heck out of it. I get artist interviews, hire talent, and jam out to new music every half hour (that's when we premiere new songs before every other radio station in the country). It's a lot of fun and I can't wait for the Spring semester for it to go in to full effect.

5. I Tried A Macaron

A very light hearted silly moment, but for those who love those colorful Macarons you know that the experience is life changing. For a while I went to this place in a village near by called 'Kiss My Cake' and it's this cute little pastry shop where I tried my first one. Occasionally I still go in but, I also go to By Woops which basically only sells macarons and those are heaven as well. Macarons have become my favorite desert ever this year and I can't believe I went my whole life without them (cue end of dramatics)! My favorite flavor is Pistachio, just in case you wanted to get me an early birthday present.

4. I Started Blogging

Though my time on Blogger has been very short, I had my original blog 'Onyx' since June/July. From there, I realized what I wanted out of blogging and what it would do for me and my future, so I decided to change platforms. I moved to blogger, and I have to say, traffic has been slower but, the experience much better. This is about me now, not 'Onyx'. I spent a while trying to build a brand. Now I don't need that, it's all me and who I am and what I like and I love it more. People on here share the same interests as me and, well, its a community. I hope to carry this out for a while.

3. My Summer Internship at Q1043

Over the summer, I had an amazing opportunity to intern with Jonathan Clarke, on-air personality and host of 'Out Of The Box' at Q1043 in NYC. Q is part of the iHeartMedia Group and I had the best summer going to free shows (5 Seconds of Summer, Theory of a Deadman) and meeting celebrities (Taylor Momsen *cries*). Even though Q is the classic rock station here in New York, I highly enjoyed it as I have a love for classic rock as well. Originally, I had been told I was too young to intern by my school and didn't have enough experience (I was just finishing freshman year). I know what I'm capable of though, and I took the internship, got college credit, and by the end Jonathan deemed me his best intern yet. I don't let anything or anyone stop me from doing what I want and this internship proved that case. I work to the best of my availability, I pay attention, and I learn. Jonathan taught me not only industry related things, but life lessons (even if he doesn't know it). Working for him improved not only my radio/editing skills but my self motivation. I had one of the best summers thanks to that internship and it took me from a caterpillar to a butterfly in just months. If only it was a permanent thing.

2. I Met Peter

Alright so technically I met Peter in 2013 at WCWP. It wasn't until 2014 when I really got to know him though. Around March this year, I created a relationship with Peter that I had yet to really experience with anyone. We had a special bond right from the beginning. He made me laugh, he made me feel comfortable around him, but most of all he was a great friend. By the end of March we went on our first date and from then on we've been dating. Peter has been a huge part of my life this year. I don't go a day without speaking to him and I find myself planning days around him. When I hang out with other people I want him there. He is truly my best friend. I know we won't be together forever, this isn't like that and I'm very realistic about our relationship and so is he. We have our own paths we want to go on for a bit after college and stuff but, one thing I know for sure is I made a life long best friend. I love this boy to death and it brings me to tears to even write about him 'cause no one gets him like I do and I just see what an incredible human being he really is. I met someone this year that has changed my life forever even if what we have is temporary. I like to call him the Peter to my Wendy because I will always love him, even if the meaning changes.

1. Self Realization

I think this has been a year coming now but I've never been more sure of myself and my life than I am now. My self-realization never really happened in one moment but it happened this year and regardless of how long it took, I'm just glad it happened. I know what I want in life. I want to be a radio personality, I want my own TV show eventually, I want to travel, I want to be successful and I've figured out my own way how to do all of it. I know who I am. I'm smart and beautiful in my own way, I understand my capabilities and what might be too much for me, and I know how I and my body work. I know what I have to do to be happy. I'm starting my training for a 5k (the color run) so I can not only be in shape, but accomplish something fulfilling. I know who I need in my life and who I don't. I know what I love in this world most. I know so much about myself after this year, and this is the most I've learned about myself in my entire life. I found something I'm good at and something I can be. I learned how to make myself happy and not relying on petty things to do it for me. The only way you can be who and what you want is by realizing whats holding you back and the only thing that was, was myself. Now that I know what was in my way, I can move on and do the things I want in life most and that is just pure and utter happiness. The best part in knowing I'm on my way there.

This was a bit lengthy and I apologize, it's just there were so many great things that happened to me this year, small and big, and they all meant so much. Especially the macarons. I felt this was something I had to do. I needed to reflect on myself in some way, whether publicly or privately. Its very liberating to understand what I have accomplished this year alone, in writing. 2014 was the greatest year of my life to date and I only wish the same and more for 2015. What were somethings you all accomplished this year?

Top 10 in Music of 2014 | Samantha Jo xo

As some of you may know, I'm a radio host at my college station, so music is something I pretty much know best. I've premiered countless new songs before they became hits on the regular radio you're all used to listening to as well as some old favorites. 2014 seemed to be a stand out year for the radio's top 40 music, at least for me. I'm so excited to share with you my top 10 picks in music for 2014!

I'm sure you're all familiar with 'No Flex Zone' by rapper Rae Sremmurd. For a few weeks it had annoyed me in the best way possible (I secretly loved the song, it's super catchy!). A few months ago, Karmin released their remix with slam poet and one of the fastest rappers on YouTube, Watsky. I've never loved another remix more. In fact I love this version better than the original. Three cheers for chick rappers.

Leave it to Queen Bey to create my 2014 anthem. This song came in the clutch for both moments of utter beauty and horrid bed head. Nevertheless, this song is fierce, especially with it's rightful prelude 'Bow Down'. 'Flawless' is officially added to my classics list in my iTunes. Hopefully it can inspire me to be a little more 'Flawless' like Beyoncé herself.

It wasn't their biggest hit this year, in fact it was just released off their new album 'Four' towards the end of this year, yet I'm in love! To me, it's like a coming of age classic for them. It's very mature sounding and I feel if you didn't know it was them, you would never know. It just reminds me of memories I haven't even created yet or even ones I have, even if the song wasn't around for them. Is that to sci-fi of you? It just has a feel good vibe I really love and I'm so happy to have heard this when I did.

For the love of all things boy bands with accents, it wouldn't be a countdown for me without 5SOS. They were actually a huge part of my year between their album release and their concert they performed at iHeartRadio (while I interned there), they have creeped their way up to my favorites lists this year. 'Goof Girls' reminds me of those old punk rock songs I listened to in the early 2000's so I held on to this one very tightly (I played it every hour at WCWP). With the recent release of their live album ('LiveSOS'), the Aussie band are off to a huge start to their career. Can't wait to see what they have in store for 2015!

I've been following Jelena for what seemed like eternity and was in complete support of the pop singer and her bad boy counterpart. It was only time that they had a fall out and Selena would go on to make her most beautiful hit to date. 'Heart Wants What It Wants' left me in tears after I saw the video, no to mention after her performance at the AMA's. The song really let's us in to how heart broken she really was and it's very raw. Although it was probably hard I'm so happy she shared it with us this year.

Ed had another huge year, this time releasing his album 'X'. On it was this little gem, 'Thinking Out Loud' and what a beauty it is. It's so simple and romantic, even Peter thought it was sweet (he doesn't have a romantic bone in his body). Leave it to Ed to warm my heart once more. The video is sure to impress yours well. Sheeran even learned how to ball room dance for the sake of the song's video. Thank you, Ed. You've created something no man could ever live up to.

Everyone lower your speakers and plug in your headphones 'cause this one is NSFW. It just wouldn't be a Nicki song without heavy swearing and sexual innuendoes yet for some reason I really love this song. 'Only' goes into graphic detail of Miss Minaj's sex life and whether Drake and Wayne were ever involved in it. I can tell you that they never were but, it's up to you if you care to hear the rest of the details on the sexual tension between the trio. God, help me.

This would be the song to change my perspective on T-Swift forever. You may not know, but I was never the biggest fan of Taylor over the years. Something about her new album '1989' just completely immersed me in the hype. Maybe it was the switch form country to pop or the fact that in this song alone she can shut up all the haters and even bash herself. I feel as an artist, if you can't laugh at yourself, you're only going to feed the haters more. Hearing 'Blank Space' gave me a new perspective on the Pop star and changed my mind about her entirely. She's undeniably talented and worked very hard on this album, reinventing herself. Well done this year, Tay. You even made a new fan.

No other song on the radio this year has moved me as much as 'Take Me To Church'. It has what all the other songs were missing and that was pure, raw, emotion and talent. Of course everyone on the countdown has talent and what not, but this song was different. This song was meant to impact and bring up an issue plaguing an entire planet. Whether you understand the song or not, it creates a feeling inside that only a deep, broody song like this can. It's a shame they have to play a "remixed" version on the radio so people find it easier to listen to. This song is by far the most beautiful on the Top 40 radio right now and it will remain a top favorite of mine forever, I'm sure of it.

Okay so we're gunna pretend that I didn't just go HAM on that last one so I can really go in with Iggy.  Oh Iggy where do I begin. You have slayed the top 40 charts this year starting with this hit right here and I'm so OBSESSED! Iggy had me last year with her song 'Work' and no one wanted to listen to me or the song. Then she releases 'Fancy' and literally killed the charts all summer long. I know a hit when I smell it and 'Fancy' smelled sooo good (too weird?). I had every line memorized in roughly 2 hours and from there on I think we were all hooked. Between the catchy chorus and Iggy's Aussie meets ATL rap style, this one is sure to go down in the books. If Miley hadn't already done it, Iggy came in like a wrecking ball and stole the pop scene show. After this year NO ONE is asking who dat who dat? They already know its the I-G-G-Y and she's here to stay for a very long time.

Hope we can all somewhat agree on my top 10 list of top 40 songs. What did you all think? These are just the songs I've been loving, so of course I gotta know, what songs did you all love this year?

Top 10 Beauty Products Of 2014 | Samantha Jo xo

As someone who is always searching for the perfect beauty products, I wish someone had compiled a list of the best so I wouldn't have to burn holes in my wallet to figure it out myself. The year is ending and I have managed to test out some of the best out there and compiled a list for you all of my top 10 beauty picks for the year. So without further ado, I present to you... my picks!

Probably the cheapest sphere of lip balm you'll ever find. This little beauty fave keeps your lips moisturized and hydrated and works great under lipsticks and glosses. I'll be using this for years to come!

This cutie helps blend away all your imperfections and apply your favorite foundations flawlessly. The beautyblender, is designed to be the best makeup sponge on the market and it surely does not disappoint. I've loved this tool this year.

I find this product sort of hard to find (the time I purchased I had ordered it from ASOS). Yet it had raving reviews so I knew I had to try. It definitely lived up to expectations. Its never cake-y and goes on nice. It's super blend able and does what it says. Definitely one of my favorites for a drugstore product!

I never feel more refreshed in my foundation routine than when I use this. I used it all summer long and it was quite perfect for the season. The serum is extremely light and build able and really good for those sweaty hot summer days where you almost just don't want to wear anything, but you know you should. This is seemingly weightless. Set the foundation with your favorite powder and you're good to go!

Oh how I love the scent of this. I've always fancied a good cleanser and leave it to Origins to make one of the best. I use this in the morning to wake up my skin and it has become one of my favorite parts of my day. Keeping this one in my routine for a while!

I could go on for days about this palette as I've basically used the crap out of it nearly everyday this year. That is no exaggeration. I've used every combination in here possible and I fall more in love each day. Unfortunately it's the only of the trio that I own but, having this makes me want all of them. The colors are very rich and pigmented and go perfectly with my eye color. I think anyone could really find a combination in the palette that suits them best making this really universal. Fave eye shadow palette hands down!

Another Bare Minerals product I couldn't live without. I really think their products just "get" my skin and the results I get from them are amazing. I use this to give my skin that natural glow and hydration my face deserves and it works wonders. I'm pretty obsessed!

Ah yes, the beauty blogger favorite. Everyone who's anyone will tell you how life changing a good foundation is and that is certainly this product. Nars Sheer Glow gives your skin that perfect coverage and radiance thats seemingly incomparable to anything else. My experience with the product has been extremely positive. I've never felt prettier!

I have countless empties of this puppy and that is because of how amazing it works on my skin! The Ocean Salt Scrub from Lush has completely transformed the look and feel of my face. I use it to exfoliate my skin a few nights a week and has even improved my acne A LOT. It's all natural made with lime and vodka for cleansing and avocado and coconut to moisturize. This product keeps me coming back for more each time and it's become a staple to my routine this year.

I'm now going to let you in on a big secret. This is the exact lip pencil Kylie Jenner uses to get her lushes mauve tinted lips. I use this to sort of emulate her look (I could never look as perfect as her) and when I do I feel like a Jenner myself. Since news broke about this being a Jenner fave, it's been really hard to come by, but when I do own it, it's in my makeup bag until every last bit is used up. I could not be any more in love with this product not just 'cause I get to look like Miss Jenner, but because it really suits my complexion and look. It's never too dark or light and gives the perfect neutral lip color for whatever look you are going for whether it be casual, for work, or parties. I love it, I'm obsessed, and I'll be carrying it in with me to the New Year.

These are just the top 10 beauty products I've really been obsessed with this year (if you couldn't tell). Did you use any of these? If so, what did you think? What are some of the products you used this year? Let me know in the comments!!

Top 10 Trends Of 2014 | Samantha Jo

The year is winding down now and it's time we do some reflecting. Everyday from now until New Years, I will be posting the Top 10's of the year in entertainment, beauty and music, as well as my life. Today I'm kicking it off with the Top 10 Trends Of 2014 which can include anything from trending topics to fashion to our everyday slang. Let's get into it!

2014 was quite the year for trends. From hashtags to the fashion world 2014 did not disappoint. Let's have a look back at some of our favorite trends.

10. The Boho Girl

It seems as though every store across the world has been inspired by the Bohemian girls of the late 60's and 70's. From bell bottoms to ponchos and bell sleeves and lace, stores like Gypsy Warrior, Free People, and Forever 21 have been reinventing the Boho girl in all their pieces for everyone to enjoy. One things for sure, I have been enjoying the trend and couldn't be more pleased that this look is in style. I always felt inspired by the music of that time to dress as I do and now that it's so available, I feel like I can add a little more to my style. I hope this trend sticks well into 2015.

9. The Booty

I don't think I've seen or heard more songs about booty than in 2014. Nicki Minaj, Iggy Azalea, JLo and the rising Meghan Trainor have all had songs about well, asses. Let's face it we've all been inspired to work a little extra at the gym on our own assets and sometimes even to songs like 'Anaconda', 'Booty', and of course 'All About That Bass'. That way in 2015 we can just bring more booty back.

8. The Ice Bucket Challenge

Just about everyone and I mean EVERYONE seems to have participated in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. In fact, if you weren't doing it, you were about to get nominated for it any second. Of course, if you didn't complete the challenge of dumping a bucket of ice water on your head for ALS, you were still encouraged to donate money to the cause. The challenge was a success raising over $21 million for research on ALS and incredible awareness amongst social media outlets. Congrats!

7. Frozen

If I hear 'Let It Go' one more time I might actually hit someone. The movie 'Frozen' was by far the highest grossing movie this year and something tells me 2015 won't stop it from getting any bigger. From the dolls and soundtrack to the movie with an inspiring message, it's no wonder 'Frozen' was so huge. I won't lie all of Christmas day I was singing 'Love Is An Open Door' thanks to the beautiful Alex and Sierra performance on the Disney Christmas Parade Special. Every morning since I've been praying for snow sining 'Do You Want To Build A Snowman' so I guess you could say I'm a fan also. 2014 was just the beginning for this little franchise.

6. Turnt Up

Don't even act like you never said the term. Maybe not in public but to yourself or even mocking the term. I'm still concerned for our generation after this one. Turnt up has become part of our language and I'm pretty sure it has caused some to forget the actual spelling of the word turned. Whether you Turnt Up in 2014 or not, chances are you're keeping this term in your word bank for a while.

5. Kimye

Whether you love 'em or hate 'em the Kardashians are our pop culture. They're going to be relevant in every moment and now even more since one of the biggest weddings of the year of Kim and rapper Kanye West. I guess you could say they're a match made in heaven as seen in the 'Bound 2' video. They seem extremely in love. The marriage has proven to last longer than Kim's last marriage and I honestly wish them all the best. Oh, cute baby btw!

4. The Top Knot

I myself have still not tried out this cute hair trend, but people from the likes of YouTubers to Kylie Jenner have rocked it this year. The top knot requires you to wear your hair some up some down with the part up, left in a small bun on the top of your head. It comes in many variations some leaving the bun out in a pony tail at the top of the head. No matter how you rock it, it's so 90's and I'm obsessed. Thanks for bringing this one back.

3. Choker Necklaces

My inner 6 year-old was bursting at the seams when this trend came back. I couldn't be more excited to whip out my old tattoo choker necklaces from grade school. I loved it then and I love it now and I sort of refuse to take my choker off. Whoever brought this back, created a monster. You will never take me away from my choker ever again. (Sorry for the dramatics)

2. Taylor Swift

With the release of her new album '1989', Taylor Swift might be bigger than ever. She made the official switch from Country to Pop with this album and I don't think anyone was complaining minus the Swift haters. I used to never be much of a fan myself but, I had always secretly loved a few songs. With '1989', I'm not hiding my love anymore. Hits like 'Blank Space' and 'Style' will be playing at my funeral-- I love them! The album went platinum in its first week of sales; she's done that two more times! Congrats Tay!

1. Bae

I'm still questioning making this number 1 on my countdown. I think I'm making the right decision. I used 'bae' for everything. The term, meaning Before Anything Else, has been used to describe boyfriends, celebs, and even pizza over the year. If bae doesn't make it into the Oxford Dictionary this year, the world may be more corrupt than I thought. Let's just hope they put a pizza pie next to the definition.

It's a bit lengthy, but this year was huge for all of these trends. These are all memories we will think about for the years to come. Don't worry most of these won't go out of style in 2015 so you don't have to get rid of them once the year is up. What are some of the trends you remember from 2014?

Finding Treasure In Sears

Picture this... I'm in Sears (my least favorite store in the world) and I'm having the most dreadful time. If it wasn't for my mom making a return from Christmas I would be bolting the hell out of there. We are standing on line when all of the sudden my entire body starts involuntarily moving. I mean I was undoubtably swaying my entire being in the middle of Sears. I felt the need to party. I eventually  decided to give a listen to the song on in the store after a few glares and harsh comment from my mom.

Once I listened closer to the song, I found myself needing to know what it was. I turned on my Shazam app and ran over to the nearest speaker in the store. This is where I found Icona Pop's 'Light Me Up'.

Icona Pop has been, in my book, killing it this year (they've made it to my blog twice in one week). I found it interesting how they keep popping up in my favorites. I've always loved them but this year they released their debut album and I've found tons of hits on there. 'Light Me Up' caught me off guard. I had no idea who this was or even what this was and it already had me dancing, and I was hardly even paying attention. That is how I know it's a hit. It has this sort of dancing with my friends at a house party singing on the top of our lungs vibe to it. Of course leave it to Icona Pop to make another one of those hits. Also, just a side bit, our girl Tove Lo wrote the jam, so you know it's going to be catchy!

While searching for 'Light Me Up', I came across this little gem as well.

This song has copious versions but, I think I like this one best. 'My Party' has this sort of trap feel that I love and I sometimes find myself listening to it more than 'Light Me Up', the original song that brought me to it. It's another dance anthem for the house party but, this one reminds me of the moment when the party is at it's peak, you're 4 shots in, not too sloppy, and you're ready to get your party on right here right now. Either that or if you're listening close to the song, you're home alone wishing you were at the party so you turn up alone in your bedroom 'cause you couldn't partake in the festivities. Been there done both.

Needless to say, if it wasn't for being stuck in Sears, I wouldn't have found some party music treasure. I think the songs are perfect to add to any New Years Eve playlist and even permanently on your iTunes. Of course I'm just a bit biased towards Icona Pop so, I want to know what you think. Give these two a listen and let me know in the comments which ones you like most, or if you like both, or if you hate them. Also if you've had any embarrassing moments in stores either dancing, singing or whatever, feel free to share them with me so we can revel in our self pity together.

The Countdown Is On: The Color Run

Christmas is over and 2015 is right around the corner. I've done some thinking and I realized that I don't really have a New Years Resolution (I still have a few days to think of one). Though I still have some time for that, I got thinking of the things I want to accomplish this up coming year. I feel like I always have to think of my future and I have some things obviously planned but I really wanted to step out of my comfort zone.

While reading fellow blog FitSugar, I came across their post for the Color Run. If you don't already know, the Color Run is considered the "happiest 5k on the planet" as they splash all these fun colored corn starch everywhere while running and even after the run post finish line. To me, it looks like a party and if there's a party, I'm there.

I've never been much of a runner, hell, I'm far from in shape. I've been looking for ways to get in shape and the idea of running always appealed to me. I thought this would be the perfect excuse to start running and really get in shape. Not only would I be working towards my personal fitness goals, I would be working towards the ultimate finish line.

I'm going to begin with an 8-week training schedule running for 30 minutes a day. Eventually I'll be able to run the full 30 minutes after the plan has completed. I'm praying to every higher power out there that I can keep up with the schedule and not give up after the first week (something I'm very prone to). To keep my motivation I want to track my progress on the FitnessPal App and of course right here on my blog.

Hopefully by the end of the 8 weeks I will be a swell runner and I can bump up the workout. Of course I will try and reach my fitness goals this way so lots of healthy eating and such. I'm not sure when the color run will be in my city but it's somewhere between May and July. By then I'll be in complete training mode hopefully getting to an easy 45 minute run. I've heard the Color Run is super crowded so not much room for passing and what not. I just want to be able to complete the run not so much to make time but, to say I completed it, I've ran a marathon, and I've done it in the funnest way possible for me.

I've had a hard time setting goals and keeping them but, for me, this seems fairly reasonable. Everyone wants to get in shape in the new year and I think what better way then to find something you can enjoy and work towards it. The Color Run is perfect spending time with friends and I think that even training with friends can motivate you even more so as you can imagine, I've been calling my friends all night asking them to do this with me. I'm really hoping to complete this and I hope by writing this and sharing my thoughts publicly, I will feel obligated to you all to do this for myself. Wish me well!

If any of you plan on doing the Color Run either in your home town or New York, let me know what you're doing to prepare. If you're going in New York, I'll see you at the dance party!

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope everyone is enjoying their days and creating great memories on this lovely Christmas day. I for one could not feel more lucky to have the most wonderful family. My day has been perfect.

I hope Santa brought you all everything you wished for. I think I made out very well (I have a haul coming to you all tomorrow!), I just have one minor dilemma. I received $50 to buy whatever I want and I have absolutely no idea what to buy with it! This is where you guys come in.

I would love if you all could comment your favorite makeup, skincare, fashion piece, album, etc and help me decide what I should spend my money on. I really need your help as I'm clueless as to what to buy and I wanna get something fun to use/wear/listen to.. you get the point.

So comment below your fave products and even let me know what some of the things you all got for Christmas so I can decide what to get. I'm so anxious to spend and curious to see what my fellow bloggers got!!

Thank you all in advanced and I hope all of your holidays are well. Love you lots.

Christmas Eve Eve in NYC

Last night I had tons of fun hanging out in my favorite city! My boyfriend Peter and I kicked off the night by heading to Rockefeller Center to see the famous giant Christmas tree. If you couldn't tell by the photo it was gorgeous!

Afterwards we headed down to Greenwich Village to see our friends Trish and Rafe play at the Bitter End. They absolutely killed it as per usual. I feel so lucky to be surrounded by such talented people in such a beautiful city. Last night I was very inspired by everything happening around me and I couldn't be more grateful especially around this time of year to be sharing these awesome memories with the people I love. Trish has one of the sickest voices I've heard live. If you all want you can check her out at TrishTorrales.com and on iTunes as well.

Of course, it wouldn't be a night without drinks and with $10 cover charge, The Bitter End came in the clutch with an awesome experience. There was the obvious two drink minimum but, there were free re-fills. They don't serve food at The Bitter End, however, Peter and I got a bag of chips each (the only food they served) and I believe out bill came out to $20 together. $30 at a bar in NYC blew my mind and I couldn't have had a better time hanging out with friends, listening to live music, and drinking some good drinks! If you're interested and in the area head over to TheBitterEnd.com and plan a night out with your friends. You won't be disappointed, they always book great acts.

I tried getting a few candids of everyone but the only ones I could make out were of Peter and the one above was the clearest one (he's so pale!). Overall, you can say this night was a success. This might've been one of my more favorite nights out in a while as it was so close to Christmas and I got to spend it with the greatest of friends. If you know of any cool spots like The Bitter End in Manhattan or the other boroughs (I don't mind traveling) then leave me a comment please! Also, what are you guys doing this Christmas/ Holidays? I'd love to know what you guys are up to! Merry Christmas Eve everyone!

MyWCWP

In case you haven't read my About Me page, you may not know that I'm studying Broadcast. I do two radio shows, Midday Madness which airs during the semesters, and Total Access which is on going. I would love if you guys could give me a listen. I'm on from 4-6 on Thursdays at mywcwp.org and if you do listen, let me know what you think. Total Access is basically what you hear on the radio normally, top 40 music and a corny host (that's me) and thats the show I do on Thursdays. I'm looking into getting some giveaways going and what not so if you're in the area and listening let me know! Oh also, don't forget to tell me what you think of the show!

Girl Online

Last week, a good friend of mine from uni bought me 'Girl Online' (YouTuber and Blogger Zoe Sugg's first book) for an early Christmas gift. Despite my crazy busy life, I've managed to get a few chapters in since and my gosh it's amazing! I'm usually down for a much darker book with much darker characters (so dramas), but in this case the characters and story a bit light hearted with less problems but they're seemingly much more human. If I were say in high school still this book would've got me through my senior year. Even though I'm older now, I still find it relatable because I've had such similar experiences. To be honest, I think all girls could relate. So far anyways. As I read the book I'll keep you all updated on my thoughts and what not. Until then, if you're reading the book let me know what you think in the comments. I'd love to hear!

How I Feel About Finals

Fifth Harmony's song "Sledgehammer" has been on my playlist for a few weeks now and I never realized how relevant it was to finals week until now. Between the anxiety I have over studying and grades and my heavy consumption of coffee my heart has been beating out of my chest for approximately 168 hours (7 days). But, finals week is finally over and this song has still managed to stay on my playlist so here's to Fifth Harmony for making another catchy song.

We All Need A Night In The Dark

Cobra Starship is back and I'm more than in love! They've paired up with Icona Pop this time around for a pop centric hit about, well, being in love. The song "Never Been In Love" came out way back in October and I find it hard how I haven't heard it until now. It's been on repeat since yesterday, Front man Gabe and the Swedish DJ duo take us through a fun filled song which sort of reminds me of a party anthem from the 90's. There's nothing more that I love than a catchy pop song I can sing with all my friends whether we're road tripping or at a party and this song does it all, in my opinion. I'll let you be the judge but, let me know what you think in the comments.

Hello World!

I've been running around the internet for the past four months, trying to figure out how and where to establish myself. I thought I knew what I want and thought I found it up until now. I originally had my own website that showcased my blogs and interests and it was working out perfectly minus one thing. I had no audience. Today I have decided to make a switch and it has brought me to Blogger. Here I'm hoping to be able to share my interests and creativity through music, fashion, and my lifestyle. Now the question is, why should you care?

The answer is simple and that is you shouldn't. You shouldn't care what little radio host and blogger from New York has to say or what she's doing around New York. You shouldn't want to hear about the latest in music first 'cause that is what iTunes, YouTube, etc is for. You shouldn't care about the latest trends in fashion 'cause that is what NYFW is for. You shouldn't care about what I'm doing on the weekends and what my interests are 'cause that is what my followers on Instagram is for. So, what am I getting at?

This blog is supposed to be for the like minded. I'm hoping that we share the same interests and that we can sort of relate to each other. The only thing I could ask is that you find it/me interesting enough that you could share your thoughts with me as well. I'm hoping to create content and include videos and pictures of my experiences and what not to make this big internet world a smaller place for you and I. The only thing that could make it great is if you enjoy it too. That's all I could ask for.

So, hello world and welcome to my blog. I hope we can create something great and enjoy the
adventure together.
