Who You Need To Be Listening To: Twenty One Pilots

From the MTV Woodie Awards stage to your car radio, musical duo Twenty One Pilots has made a quick and extraordinary ascent to the mainstream music scene. They've had multiple hits in the last couple of years, but have really turned heads with their latest release "Stressed Out", which has quickly climbed not only the alternative/rock charts, but Top 40 charts as well. They've sold out hundreds of shows across the country and has spoken and related to a whole new generation of music lovers. So, what is it exactly that makes Twenty One Pilots so captivating?

Perhaps its their unique sound blending alternative, hip- hop, pop and indie vibes. Members Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun incorporate the different genres seamlessly to create an eclectic and distinguishing sound. Their music is catchy, yet tasteful, alluring and exquisite, and perhaps the most incomparable out there. And I mean that in the best way possible. It's certainly innovative, which is something music in recent years has been lacking. They've established something that is distinctive with the band, making TOP a stand- out sensation.

Maybe it's their live performances that make Twenty One Pilots so intriguing. The duo have been known to bring the energy to their shows. They display multiple musical and acrobatic talents, whether it be banging on some drums, wearing ski masks, doing back flips, and literally walking into the crowd. Fans of the group expect this excitement at every show, and they bring it every time. Their shows are entertaining and thrilling, and political and playful all in one.

If their ten award nominations (including and MTV VMA Artist To Watch nod), number one single, and over all bad ass-ery weren't enough, their enticing sound and show aesthetic could be the bait to draw you in. The pair have come a long way from playing small venues and being openers at festivals, but are now the main attraction, and this is just the beginning. You can expect to hear A LOT more from Twenty One Pilots in 2016, but you can end 2015 by hearing the incredible tunes they already have out and by jumping on the Twenty One Pilots bandwagon.

6 Best Music Videos Of 2015

This year we've seen a fair share of twerkers, explosions, and awkward dancing in music videos from all genres. From Taylor Swift to The Weeknd to Drake, we're looking at six of the best music videos that came out this year. Of course their are way more than six, but I certainly wouldn't want to keep you here all day. This list is compiled based on views, charts and other lists from around the web. If you see something that should've made the list but didn't, let me know in the comments!

6. Sia - Elastic Heart

Who could forget Shia LaBeouf and Maddie Ziegler's infamous (and kinda creepy) performance inside of a giant bird cage. Now there was tons of speculation on the meaning of their ensemble including LaBeouf's enacting of a pedophile and even a portrayal of an abusive father/ daughter relationship. Whatever the meaning, their is an immense artistic value to the video that shouldn't be over shadowed by LaBeouf's slightly weird performance. Not to mention Sia's incredible lyrics and vocals that take this video to a whole other level of astonishment.

5. Jack Ü/Justin Bieber- Where Are Ü Now

Probably one of the hugest collaborations of the year was the dynamic DJ duo Skrillex and Diplo known as Jack Ü with everyone's favorite bad boy Justin Bieber. Their song "Where Are Ü Now" quickly blew up soon after release which led to much anticipation for the video. It just so happens that the video was just as epic including shots of Jack Ü fans and their drawings and of course Justin Bieber.

4. Kendrick Lamar- Alright

What's a music video countdown without this creation by Kendrick Lamar. There's something about a music video that actually tells a story and this one definitely taps into Lamar's inner narrator. This video perfectly represents not only the song, but gives a little taste of Lamar's life before (and perhaps during) fame. It's like a mini movie and it is very artistically appreciated. Thanks Kendrick.

3. Drake- Hotline Bling

Okay so I can't be the only one who didn't understand this video. For some reason, this was one of the most viewed videos of the year and I think it was solely based on comedic value. Between the corny beat and wack dance moves, there's no wonder people kept coming back for more. I mean who doesn't want to watch Drake bob and sway in his Tims surrounded by pastel colors? Drake, you're gonna need to explain this one.

2. Justin Bieber- What Do You Mean?

The Biebs asked a lot of questions this year, but apparently everyone loved this question the most. "What Do You Mean" quickly became popular in it's first day of release considering it was JB's comeback video. Not to mention he was shirtless, getting steamy with a gorgeous model, and dropping hints of his love for Selena Gomez in the graffiti background. This was definitely Justin Bieber's year and this video definitely aided in his comeback, making us all Belieb.

1. Taylor Swift- Bad Blood

From models to explosions and other epic bad ass-ery, there's no denying this is the number one video of the year. Whether we hate to admit it or not, Swift has done it again, leaving us wondering how she could ever top herself after the "Shake It Off" video. "Bad Blood" surely does that with star studded cameos, a Kendrick Lamar feature, and a kick ass girl fight. After watching this, you'll  totally get a sense of girl power and want to go join Swift's epic squad.

How The Jenners Helped Out Their Friend Justine Skye

So, by now we all know the Jenners and who they're hanging out with (don't act like you don't follow them on insta). I bet you didn't know they were friends with up and coming R&B singer Justine Skye. By the looks of Skye's new lyric video for "I'm Yours", the whole crew showed up for a little karaoke sesh to help her sing the new single. Of course they weren't actually singing, they left that up to the angelic voice of Justine Skye.

The awkward lip syncing cameos are not to overshadow Skye's vocals in her latest single. Though Kendall and Kylie (and squad) may give the video a few extra views, the song is actually a hit in itself. Production wise, the song has all the qualities of a hit single- a mix of trap beats, smooth R&B transitions and those infamous claps heard in all of the latest urban hits. What brings this song to life is Skye's sweet vocals. She brings a sort of Kelly Rowland vibe to the entire ensemble which I must say is very delightful. Now all she needed was a feature from an up and coming Chicago rapper... oh yeah, Vic Mensa. He made the track too. Adding a nice contrast to "I'm Yours", Mensa dropped a few lines from the males perspective of the song not only completing the story but the entire track.

So yes, Skye had a helping hand from her famous friends, but she was obviously still the star of her song and her song is clearly a hit. I hope to see this one climb the charts in the upcoming year and to hear more from both Skye and Mensa very soon!

Let me know what your thoughts of the song and Justine Skye are in the comments!!
